Chinese Zodiac: Dragon April 24, 2003: It started out on a warm May afternoon back in 1997; I got a call from Kit asking if I was interested in auditioning for a new a cappella group. It had been three years since I had sung in a choir, and that was a church choir; quite different from this offer. Holding my fear of new things at bay, I went for the audition. After hearing me sing a bit, Kit offered a bass position in Wolfgang. Since that day, 12 semesters have passed. 12 sets of leaders. 44 friends and co-members. 6 years. Dozens of songs. It has all changed so much over the years. Good times and bad times, the good always outnumbering the bad. I've followed, and I've led... followed again, then led again, then followed, and finally led as director. I feel quite privileged to have been allowed to stay around for so long. It's been a blast to see Wolfgang progress into what it is now. Yet when I recollect on what it used to be, I am just as proud and happy. I wish I could share all the memories with people, but it of course wouldn't be the same as being there. Wolfgang is an amazing organization, which has managed to balance having fun with hard work, in our commitments to both grow as a group of peers with common interests and goals, as well as establish a quality well-rounded repertoire of music performed in a way that entertains our audience. I hoped the day would never come when I had to say goodbye. But, alas, it has come. I wish Wolfgang the very best in it's years to come. Thanks for the wonderful years! Rock On! |
